The Mystic NativityFestivals
Musical styles, include classical, rock, jazz, gospel, folk and 2– part singing.
This Christmas musical is inspired by Botticelli’s painting, 'The Mystic Nativity' in the National Gallery, London. Colourful costumes and set replicate the scene, and a projected slide of the painting makes an effective backdrop.
The script and a variety of songs and dances are linked by a sung narration which introduces seven Nativity scenes - 'The Annunciation', 'Journey to Bethlehem', 'Birth', 'Shepherds', 'Wise Men' and 'Celebration'. In each scene, colourful characters and choruses perform a variety of lively songs and dances as they visit baby Jesus Bethlehem.
This moving musical can be performed either as a choral work or a dramatic scripted production.
