Welcome to dc musicals
As a primary school teacher and director of a London Children’s Theatre Group, I am constantly amazed by the capabilities and talent of children in the performance arts! They learn scripts, songs and dances almost instantly - so long as the material is inspiring. Otherwise their attention quickly wonders! Therefore their involvement and reactions play a vital part during the composition process.
I begin writing a musical by carefully researching the subject to ensure that it is curriculum-based, informative and entertaining. Scripts include plenty of equally-distributed parts, with a wide variety of lively songs and dances - both thought-provoking and humorous. Right up until the first performance, there is a great deal of fine-tuning and perfecting. Miraculously, my young performers nearly always rise to the occasion - often at the 11th hour!
As every teacher knows, children are demanding and hungry for fresh material, which, over the years has kept me extremely busy writing new musicals! No sooner has the applause ended for one show than they are asking ‘What show are we doing next, Debbie?
