About 'Sing & Tell' Downloads for Class Assemblies
The class assembly is an important event in primary schools, when pupils and teachers share their classroom work and activities with the rest of the school. This re-enforces their learning, educates and entertains the whole school.
Debbie Campbell’s ‘Sing & Tell’ Shows are tailor-made for class assemblies, ticking the subject boxes and bringing the curriculum to life. Pupils present all the show themselves, which is great for their self-confidence, memorization, reading and speaking skills. As younger pupils watch older ones perform, a tradition is established throughout the school of speaking out clearly and confidently, as well as listening to and encouraging each other.
Lasting about 15 minutes, the scripts are full of carefully-researched topic information, and are often written in witty rhyme, making information and facts easy to memorize and fun to recite. Flexible cast lists have short, equally-distributed speaking parts with a line or two for everyone in the class or year-group.
Each show has a topic-related song with actions for the class to perform and teach to the school. Not only is this great for children’s fitness and well-being, it also guarantees that everyone leaves the hall in good spirits, and with a catchy tune in their head!
‘Sing & Tell’ titles include Endangered Species, Gardening, Food, Harvest, Rainforests, Oceans, Minibeasts, Space, Recycling, Sustainable Energy, Christmas, Nativity, Pantomime, Shakespeare, Historical Events, Fairytales, Caring and Sharing. And the list is being added to all the time!
Downloads include script, song words, actions and dances, vocal and backing tracks for rehearsals and performances and piano score. There are ideas for simple costumes and props, made by the pupils as part of their class project. Practical staging ideas ensure each child is visible during their performance, and the action is easily followed. Cross-curricular, topic-related ideas are also suggested.
