This dramatic musical offers two text versions - shortened original and modern rhyming. Both provide a perfect introduction to Shakespeare for young pupils. It tells of the intrigue, infatuation and battles that brought about the downfall of Mark Antony, Roman Triumvir, and Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt. While she schemes to hold on to Antony and her power, he is torn between the luxurious life of her Egyptian court, and loyalty to his Roman comrades and wives. It ends tragically for them when Antony is betrayed by Cleopatra and defeated by Caesar.Ages: 9 to 15; KS2, KS3, Duration: 45 to 60 minutes
