Cast Size 20–40+
Ages 7-14
Musical Styles Fight Song, Waltz, Rock, Ballad and Medley
A musical introduction to Shakespeare

This moving musical offers two versions of script - one with shortened, original text and one in modern rhyming verse. Both provide a perfect introduction to Shakespeare for 9 to 14 year-olds in Primary and Lower Secondary schools and Youth Theatre Groups. This musical is also an ideal resource for students of English as a foreign language.

Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet meet and fall in love despite an ancient feud between their powerful families. Helped by Juliet’s well-meaning nurse and Friar Lawrence, the couple secretly marry. But their time together is brief, and in the end a very heavy price is paid by everyone. But it is not all gloom and doom. Throughout this musical there are comic characters and fun songs and dances to brighten things up.

Review: I would just like to thank you for writing some wonderful musicals – of which I have only directed Romeo and Juliet but I love your style and above all, I really appreciate that you also make your shows suitable for older children. - Lynette Gridle
